Add a Service Area

Define the geographic boundaries your business covers using polygon, circle, or rectangle on a map.

Written by Sophia Martinez

A service area defines a geographic region your business covers. Once defined, Joby auto-matches jobs to the right area based on the customer's address, filters which technicians can take that job, and powers your service-area reporting.

1. Open Service Areas

You'll find Service Areas under Settings. The page lists every area you've defined and shows them on a map.

1

2. Click Add Service Area

This opens the map editor. You'll name the area, draw its boundary on the map, and save.

2

3. Name the service area

Use a name your team will recognize on a job — like "Brooklyn", "Orange County", or "Within 25 mi of HQ". The name shows up on jobs and in the technician's service-area picker.

3

4. Choose the Polygon drawing tool

Joby supports three boundary types: Polygon (custom shape, click points to outline an area), Circle (radius from a center point), and Rectangle. Pick the one that fits your coverage.

4

5. Draw the polygon

Click points on the map to outline your service area. At least 3 points are required to close the shape. Useful for irregular boundaries that follow city limits or natural borders.

5

6. Refine the polygon shape

Drag vertices to adjust the boundary. You can also add or remove points to fine-tune the shape until it matches your actual service footprint.

6

7. Confirm the polygon

Once the shape looks right, lock it in. Joby saves it as the area's coverage boundary.

7

8. Or use the Circle tool instead

If you cover everything within a radius of one location, the Circle tool is faster. Click your center point and set the radius in miles.

8

9. Adjust the circle radius

Drag the edge or type a precise radius. Joby shows the resulting coverage on the map in real time.

9

10. Save the service area

Hit Save. Joby uses this area to auto-match jobs to a service area based on the customer's address and to filter the techs who can be assigned.
