Manage Service Types

Define the categories of work your business does — they drive job routing, reports, and tech skill matching.

Written by Sophia Martinez

Service Types are the categories of work your business does. Every job, estimate, and technician is tied to one. Setting them up correctly powers your reporting, automation routing, custom fields per type, and tech skill matching.

1. Open Service Types

You'll find Service Types (also called Job Types) under Settings. This is where you define the categories of work your business does — HVAC install, plumbing repair, locksmith rekey, etc.

1

2. Click Add Service Type

Each service type becomes a selectable category when creating a new job or estimate. Service types also drive your reports, custom fields (per type), and technician skill matching.

2

3. Enter the service type name

Use the customer-facing name your team will recognize, like "HVAC Install", "Drain Cleaning", or "Garage Door Replacement".

3

4. Save the service type

Hit Save. The new type is immediately available in the job creation form, the estimate flow, and the technician skill picker.

4

5. Add as many service types as you need

Repeat the process for every category of work. Most businesses end up with 5–15 service types covering their full service menu.
