Technicians and field workers can clock in and out right from the job page — on desktop or in the Joby mobile app. Joby captures their GPS location when they start, so you can verify they were actually on site. Here's how to do it both ways.
From the desktop app
1. Open the Time tab on the job
From inside the job, click the Time tab to see all time entries and the clock-in controls.
2. Click Start Work
Hit Start Job Timer to log the start of your shift on this job. (Older screenshots in this guide may show "Start Work" — the button has since been renamed.) The timer runs in the background even if you navigate to other pages.
3. Click End Work when you're done
When the work is finished, click End Job Timer. Joby records the total time and stamps both the start and end locations against the job.
From the Joby mobile app
1. Open the job in the mobile app
Tap into the job from your Jobs list. Time tracking lives inside each individual job, not at the top level.
2. Tap Time
The Time tab is in the job's tab strip. It shows your active timer (if any) and any existing entries.
3. Tap Start Work
Hit Start Work to clock in. The timer keeps running even if you close the app, so don't worry about leaving Joby open.
4. Allow location access
The first time you clock in on a device, the app asks for location permission. Grant it — Joby uses your location to verify you were actually on site.
5. The timer is now running
You'll see the elapsed time updating live. You can also add notes from this screen — perfect for capturing what you did, parts used, or things to flag for the office.
6. Tap End Work when done
Tap End Work to clock out. Joby records the end location and saves the total time against the job.
