Create your first invoice

Create an invoice in Joby and send it to your customer. You can create one from a job, from the client page, or by converting an accepted estimate.

Joby gives you a few ways to create an invoice: from a job, from a client, or by converting an accepted estimate. This walkthrough shows the most common path — creating an invoice from inside a job.

1. Open the job

From the Jobs page, click the job you want to bill. You can also open it from the customer's profile.

1

2. Click Invoice

The Invoice button is in the job's action bar at the top. If an estimate was already accepted, you'll see "Convert Estimate to Invoice" as a faster option.

2

3. Add a line item

Click Add Line to start a new row. You can also click Add from Price Book to pull in a saved service with cost and price already filled in.

3

4. Enter the item name

Use a name your customer will understand. Avoid internal codes. The name shows on the customer-facing invoice and any payment receipts.

4

5. Enter the price

This is the price the customer pays for this line. Tax and discounts are calculated separately at the bottom of the invoice.

5

6. Save & Send

Save & Send emails the invoice to the customer immediately. The email includes a link to the customer portal where they can pay online via Stripe.

6

7. Open invoice actions

The actions menu lets you resend, download as PDF, copy a payment link, or mark as paid manually if the customer paid by check or cash.

7

8. View customer portal

This is what your customer sees. They can view the invoice, pay by card (or ACH if you've enabled ACH in your Stripe Connect account), and download a receipt — all without creating an account.

8

9. All done

Once the customer pays, the invoice is marked Paid automatically. Payments flow to your connected Stripe account and show up in your reports.
