Account Basics

Customize your sidebar

Show only the tabs you actually use. Hide the modules you don't. Your sidebar is per-user — everyone on your team can shape it around their own role.

What it is

Joby ships with a full set of modules in the left sidebar — Leads, Clients, Calendar, Inbox, Reports, Estimates, Invoices, Payments, and more. Not everyone needs all of them.

The sidebar customization setting lets each user toggle which modules appear in their sidebar. A dispatcher probably wants Calendar and Live Location front and center; a bookkeeper needs Invoices and Payments; a manager wants Reports. Everyone gets a sidebar shaped around what they actually do all day.

Note — this is a per-user setting

Changes here only affect your sidebar. They don't change what anyone else on your team sees, and they don't hide the modules from the app — you can still search for them or open a direct link. Turning a tab off only removes the sidebar shortcut.

Why it matters

  • Less scrolling, faster clicks. A sidebar with 6 tabs you use daily is faster than one with 15 tabs mixed with things you never touch.

  • Less confusion for new team members. Show a new dispatcher only Calendar, Dispatch, and Inbox — they won't get lost in Reports or Settings on day one.

  • Same permissions, cleaner view. Hiding a tab doesn't change what you're allowed to do — it just cleans up the visual noise.

Set it up

1. Open your account menu

Click your user avatar at the very bottom of the sidebar. This opens the account menu.

1

2. Click Account settings

Pick Account settings from the menu. This is your personal profile — the sidebar customization lives here (not in the org-wide Settings page).

2

3. Find the Sidebar Tabs section

Scroll to Sidebar Tabs. You'll see every module Joby has, each with a toggle. Modules that are on show up in your sidebar; modules that are off don't.

3

4. Toggle the tabs you want on and off

Flip the switch next to each module. Turn on the ones you use every day and turn off the ones you don't.

Changes save automatically — no separate save button. The sidebar updates in real time so you can see the effect immediately.

5. Explore your new sidebar

Head back to the app and look at your sidebar. Only the modules you toggled on will appear. Change your mind later? Come back to Account settings and flip the switches again — takes 5 seconds.

Things to know

Situation

What happens

You turn a tab off

Only the sidebar shortcut disappears. You can still search for or open the module directly from a URL.

Your admin adds a new module later

It appears in your Sidebar Tabs list with its default on/off state. You can toggle it anytime.

You change your mind

Come back to Account settings and flip the switch — the sidebar updates instantly.

You sign in on a different device

Your sidebar preferences follow your user, so the same tabs appear everywhere you sign in.

Someone else on your team wants a different setup

They can customize their own sidebar the same way. Your setup only affects you.

Tip

Start by turning off the tabs you know you never use, rather than trying to build the perfect sidebar from scratch. Most people cut 5–7 tabs on the first pass and immediately feel the difference.
