Conversations Inbox
Schedule messages for later
Write a message now, send it later. Perfect for reaching customers during business hours, following up after a job, or reminding them about an appointment — without having to remember to type it at the right time.
What it is
The Schedule Message feature lets you compose a message in the Conversations Inbox and set it to send at a specific date and time. Works for SMS and email replies alike.
Instead of sending immediately, the message sits in a queue and fires exactly when you set it to — even if you're off the clock, out on a job, or asleep.
When to use it
Follow-ups — schedule a "did everything go smoothly?" text for the morning after a job.
Appointment reminders — send a "see you tomorrow at 10 AM" the night before, without staying up to type it.
After-hours replies — a customer messaged at 11 PM? Draft the reply and schedule it for 8 AM so it doesn't look like you're working around the clock.
Timing-sensitive info — send the ETA text 30 minutes before the tech arrives, not the moment you think of it.
Batch quiet hours — write reminders as you think of them, but schedule them all for a normal outbound window (say 9 AM–7 PM).
How to schedule a message
1. Open the conversation and type your message
Open the customer's conversation in the Inbox and type your reply in the message input field — same as if you were sending it right now.
2. Click Schedule Message
Instead of hitting Send, click the Schedule Message button (next to the Send button). This opens the date/time picker.
3. Click the date field
Click the date field to open the calendar.
4. Pick a date
Select the date you want the message to send.
5. Click the time dropdown
Now pick the time. Options are in 15-minute intervals through the day.
6. Pick a time
Select the exact time — the message will fire at this moment on the date you picked.
7. Click Schedule to confirm
Schedule queues the message. You'll see a confirmation banner in the conversation showing when it's set to send.
Cancel a scheduled message
Changed your mind? Every scheduled message shows a small confirmation card in the conversation until it fires. To cancel:
Click the X on the scheduled message card
The scheduled message card in the conversation has a small X — click it to cancel. The message is removed from the queue and never sends. There's no separate confirmation, so make sure you actually want to cancel.
Note
Cancellation only works before the scheduled send time. Once the message fires, it's sent — no unsend option (same as any SMS or email). If you catch it in time, you have as much time as you need to cancel.
Things to know
Situation | What happens |
You go offline or log out before the scheduled time | The message still fires on time — it runs on Joby's servers, not your device. |
The customer replies before the scheduled message fires | Your scheduled message still fires. Cancel it manually if the context has changed. |
The scheduled time already passed | Not allowed — the picker only lets you pick times in the future. |
A teammate opens the conversation | They see the scheduled message and can cancel it too. Anyone with access to the conversation can manage it. |
You want to edit a scheduled message | Cancel the current one and schedule a new one with the updated text. No in-place editing yet. |
Tip
Draft your morning follow-ups the night before while the job is fresh in your head, and schedule them all for 8 or 9 AM. You wake up to a clean inbox with the day's customer touchpoints already going out.
