Create and manage leads on your phone
Everything you can do with a lead on desktop, you can do in the field — take the call, create the lead, assign a tech, schedule it, and build the estimate before you leave the driveway.
What you can do
On the lead | What it does |
Create | Full new-lead form — client details, service type, location, schedule, field worker. |
Assign | Pick one or more field workers, including subcontractors. |
Schedule | Set start and end date + time right on the form. |
Update status | Move it through your pipeline from the lead card. |
Tag | Add tags for filtering and reporting. |
Estimate | Add line items, pull from the Price Book, take a deposit, send it. |
Part 1 — Open Leads
1. Tap Leads in the bottom bar
The Leads tab lives in the bottom navigation, next to Home, Chat, Phone, and Settings.
2. Find your way around the list
The list view gives you the same tools as desktop:
List / Calendar / Pipeline — three ways to view the same leads
Filter tabs — All, Unassigned, Created, Sent, and the rest of your statuses
Search — by name, phone, or email
Call and message buttons on every card — one tap to reach the customer
Tap + New (top right) to create a lead.
Part 2 — Fill in the lead
3. Enter the client details
Start with who the customer is — first name, last name, phone, email.
Two links save you time here:
+ Company — add a business name if this is a commercial client
+ 2nd phone — a mobile plus an office line, or a tenant plus a property manager
Existing customer?
Use Link to client at the top instead of retyping. Their details fill in automatically and the lead attaches to their existing record, so the full history stays in one place.
4. Set the Customer Type
Pick whether this is an individual or a business. For a business, the company name becomes the primary identifier across the app.
5. Choose the Service Type
Service Type is required. It drives your reporting, your Price Book defaults, and which techs are a fit for the job.
6. Pick from your service list
Your own service types appear here — the ones you set up in Settings.
7. Add the lead description
Type what the customer actually said. This is what the tech reads before they knock on the door, so specifics matter — "outlet in garage sparking, breaker keeps tripping" beats "electrical issue."
Above this you'll also find Ad Source (where the lead came from) and Call Group.
8. Enter the service location
Type the address and pick it from the suggestions — that fills in city, state, ZIP, and country in one tap, and gets the pin right for routing.
9. Set the schedule and assign a field worker
Set Starts and Ends, then tap Select field workers. You can assign more than one, and subcontractors show up in the same list.
Service Area auto-fills from the address — useful for routing.
10. Pick your techs
Tap each person you want on the job.
11. Confirm the assignment
The field shows how many are assigned — "1 field worker assigned".
12. Tap Create Lead
The lead saves and opens. Assigned techs get notified right away.
Part 3 — Manage the lead
13. Work the lead from its detail view
Everything you need is on one screen:
Status pill — tap it to move the lead through your pipeline
+ Add tag — tag it for filtering and reports
On my way — one tap texts the customer that you're heading over
Comment and Tasks — internal notes and follow-ups
Visits / Items / Payments tabs — the job's history, line items, and money
Part 4 — Build the estimate
14. Open Line Items
From the lead, go to Items to start pricing the job.
15. Add from Price Book
Type an item name manually, or tap Add from Price Book to pull in a saved service with its price already set. Faster and keeps your pricing consistent across techs.
16. Finish and send
The rest of the estimate lives in collapsible sections:
Section | What it's for |
Customer Display | Control what the customer actually sees on the estimate. |
Photos | Attach job photos straight from your camera roll. |
Totals | Discounts and tax, per line or on the whole estimate. |
Deposit & Payment | Require a deposit before work starts. |
Notes | Terms, scope caveats, anything the customer should read. |
Then pick how to finish: Preview to see it as the customer will, Save Draft to keep working, or Save & Send to deliver it. Save as Template stores the whole thing for jobs you quote often.
Tip — quote before you leave
Build and send the estimate on-site while the customer is standing there. Preview it, walk them through it, and send. Estimates sent on-site close at a far higher rate than ones emailed that evening.
Things to know
Situation | What happens |
You create a lead on mobile | It syncs to desktop instantly — the office sees it the moment you tap Create. |
The client already exists | Use Link to client. Joby also matches on phone and email to avoid duplicates. |
You assign a field worker | They get a notification and the lead appears in their own app. |
You skip the Service Type | You can't save — it's required, because reporting and Price Book defaults depend on it. |
You lose signal mid-form | Finish the form and save once you're back on data. Don't close the app first. |
